According to a report in the Naples Daily News (www.naplesnews.com), a new trial date has been set in RUSH guitarist ALEX LIFESON's ongoing battery case. The report, by John Henderson, reads: A new trial date has been set in a battery case involving the lead guitarist for the rock group, Rush, and it falls right in the heart of the group's upcoming 30th anniversary tour. But Alex Zivojinovich's defense attorney said he doesn't expect the trial to be held on the new scheduled date of June 14, which is a day after Rush is scheduled to perform in Bonner Springs, Kan., at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. "There is a lot of discovery left to do. The trial isn't looming anytime soon," said Jerry Berry, who is Alex Zivojinovich's Naples defense attorney. Zivojinovich, known on stage as Alex Lifeson, and his son, Justin Zivojinovich, are facing charges related to an altercation they are said to have had with Collier County sheriff's deputies on New Year's Eve at the Ritz-Carlton, Naples. Alex Zivojinovich has a residence in North Naples. Rush plans a 41-show North American tour that begins in Nashville on May 26 and wraps up Aug. 22 at Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre. After that, Rush plans a United Kingdom tour. "We don't anticipate any problems with the tour," Berry said Tuesday. Under terms of his bond, Alex Zivojinovich is allowed to travel. Alex and Justin Zivojinovich both had tentative trial dates scheduled for May 17 until a court hearing Tuesday morning, when Alex Zivojinovich's trial was rescheduled.
