SPV/Steamhammer are re-releasing four classic ACCEPT titles in their SuperValue campaign. The titles will be available from April 25th, and will include new booklets with new liner notes, never seen before photos and memorabilia. Every album has personal liner notes by Accept leader Udo Dirkschneider, who was also involved in the creation of the new booklets. Titles and comments from Udo Dirkschneider are as follows: Accept: "What every musician dreams turned into a reality for us, now that we had a record deal. When listening closely to this album, you can already hear the Accept sound. Without a doubt this album brought notice to the German rock scene. Naturally it was very exciting for us the first time we entered a recording studio , but also disappointing at the same time. Of course, we expected that song we recorded would be the same as the song we had written. I remember that is was a fight for us to push our ideas into the foreground. I believe that they wanted to make a pop band out of us, but at the end, we got our way." I'm A Rebel: "When I think back on the development of I'm A Rebel, only one thought comes to mind; Too many people involved trying to manipulate the band, just like on the first album. The title song 'I'm A Rebel' was originally planned for AC/DC, but they were not interested. We were played an 8 track demo made by Bon Scott!!! We definitely wanted to record the song, and couldn't understand why AC/DC did not want to do it. In hindsight it was possibly a mistake not to use the producer who wanted to record this album since he was no less than the producer for AC/DC." Breaker: "I would say that this album is the result of pure anger (note: I destroyed 3 microphones during the production). Following our experiences with I'm A Rebel we made it our goal not to be influenced musically by anyone outside of the band this time. One example are the lyrics of 'Son of a Bitch' that are absolutely anti record company. With this album you can say that the Accept sound was born, and brought us attention across Europe and a tour with Judas Priest. Furthermore, this album was a starting point for many musicians to begin playing their own music." Restless & Wild: "This is surely the most important Accept album. 'Fast As A Shark' is considered by many to be the very first speed metal song written, not to mention the unusual intro (which was sung by a 12 year old Dieter Dierks together with a girl who remains unknown to us). You could say that 'Princess Of The Dawn' and 'Fast As A Shark' are considered classics today. With this album, America came calling for the first time... and the rest is history."
AFM Records will issue the new U.D.O. album, Mission X, on April 11th in Europe. The new album will also be issued in Europe in a limited edition digi-pak release that will be available on June 1st. As previously reported, over the last few weeks the band has been working to finish the recording of the new album, with guitarist Stefan Kaufmann completing the mixing sessions.
