The biggest, best and most important shindig of Grammy night In L.A. was courtesy of Aerosmith frontman STEVEN TYLER who teamed with Live Nation for his first-ever Grammy viewing party at RED Studios in Hollywood. This celebration culminated in a Tyler performance, backed by the Loving Mary band, for 500 people who got to witness the iconic frontman cover Janis Joplin's "Piece Of My Heart", as well as rock Aerosmith classics such as "Sweet Emotion", "Dream On", and "Walk This Way", with an appearance by Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer, and team with Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt for the band's "More Than Words". But what it made the most important was the event was a benefit for Janie's Fund, an organization created by Tyler in partnership with Youth Villages to help young girls who are victims of abuse. $2.4 million was raised for the charity.
Da Capo Press has announced a September 18th release date for HEAVY DUTY: DAYS AND NIGHTS IN JUDAS PRIEST - a memoir by Judas Priest co-founder and former guitarist, K.K. DOWNING, co-written with Mark Eglinton. A book synopsis states: 'Judas Priest formed in the industrial city of Birmingham, England, in 1968. With its distinctive twin-guitar sound, studs-and-leather image, and international sales of over 50 million records, Judas Priest became the archetypal heavy metal band in the 1980s. Iconic tracks like "Breaking The Law", "Living After Midnight", and "You've Got Another Thing Coming" helped the band achieve extraordinary success, but no one from the band has stepped out to tell their or the band's story until now.'
