Some groups really surprise also. Back in 1983, my friend dragged me to a Triumph show. I believe that they were supporting the album Never Surrender. It stands as one of the best shows that I have witnessed and I've attended over 200 concerts. Other surprises included Ministry, Social Distortion and the Reverend Horton Heat. See these groups when they come through your town!
Triumph is one band I missed. It's kinda funny cause I do have a ticket stub for a show, but dont ever remember going. lol

Ministry - I saw them at a club in SF before they were anything. They were cool, but not metal or hard rock.

some others:
GBH
The Mentors
Suicidal Tendencies - when they were punk

I just saw Queensryche last tuesday (I am in Paris for severall months, also caught Edguy earlier in the year) Queensryche is unbelievable, I thought they were going to be old and just out to make some cash touring on their name, no way....Geoff Tate's voice blows away any "young" singer I have ever seen live, no contest, they played a grip of mindcrime which was great. I don't know if they sounded as good in the 80's or 90's but I am still in awe at the quality of the show, if you get a chance you won't be disapointed.

Hmmm...not so many for me...

Nevermore - DHIADW
Into Eternity - all 3 albums so far, twice each I think!
Alice In Chains - Facelift
Queensryche - Empire
Skid Row - Slave To The Grind
Megadeth - Countdown To Extinction (close, but not quite)
Strapping Young Lad - City

All I can think of right now.

Dio/Queensryche in 1984.....
Judas Priest 1986.. that's right, they were never any better live. Rob's voice and stage presence improved so much after he came out of rehab for Turbo.

More memories: 1. AC/DC- For those About to Rock tour ( the first appearance of the infamous belching cannons)
2. Van Halen - 1982 Diver Down ( little guitars)
3. Cheap Trick- All Shook Up 1981 Tour ( in support of an under-rated album, it rocks)
4. Dio - Holy Diver in 1984 ( his best solo effort )
5. Kiss - Dynasty 1979 ( my first concert !)
