I can't believe nobody mentioned the once-awesome guitar tandem of Dave Murray and Adrian Smith!! They could be awesome again if they had some decent material to work with.
And speaking of great guitar tandems, how about Michael Bruce and Glen Buxton (RIP) of Alice Cooper's original band? Those guys, as well as the whole band, was tighter than a hamster's butt. Listen to Killer and Love It To Death and you'll agree with me.
I'm not even gonna try to name my top five - there's just too many out there. But I am gonna throw some names out there of guitarists (metal and non-metal) I like that haven't been mentioned.
Rick Nielson
Fast Eddie Clarke
Phil Campbell
Buck Dharma
Stevie Ray Vaughn (RIP)
Kenny Wayne Shepard
Stanley Jordan
Rory Gallagher (RIP)
George Thorogood
Duane Allman (RIP - the Allman Brothers Band never sounded the same after his death)
Dick Dale
Danny Gatton (RIP)
B.B. King
And for anybody who wants a good laugh - a couple of friends of mine still think that Slipknot's guitarists are the greatest on the planet because they play so fast. |
