The new Bruce is superb. For some odd reason, I never made it a point to check out his solo works. However, "Tyranny of Souls" has led me to right that wrong.

if you haven't picked up Bruce's solo stuff, you might want to wait until next month. They are all being reissued with a bunch of bonus b-sides and live cuts. I'm not sure if they are going to be reissued in the States or it it will be an import. |

here is the info on the Bruce Dickinson reissues if anyone cares...
Bruce Dickinson: re-issues with tons of bonus material
Bruce Dickinson is for many the face of British heavy metal. As a rock vocalist, he has scaled the heights of global commercial success and is truly a member of the international metal elite. Bruce cut his teeth in a succession of school bands before fronting Samson. Iron Maiden founder and bass guitarist Steve Harris was impressed with Bruce’s voice and when former vocalist Paul Dianno left, Dickinson was the obvious replacement.
Maiden with Dickinson enjoyed immense success, touring the world playing to massive audiences and enjoying incredible chart success, including 3 UK No 1 albums and a number one single with the Dickinson penned "Bring Your Daughter....To The Slaughter’".
Bruce released his first ever solo album "Tattooed Millionaire" in 1990, critically acclaimed, it reached no 14 in the UK charts. After a short break in which he toured with Iron Maiden, Dickinson resumed his solo career to further acclaim resulting in 1994’s "Balls To Picasso" (UK No 21), 1995’s "Alive In Studio A", 1996’s "Skunkworks", 1997’s "Accident Of Birth", 1998’s "The Chemical Wedding" and 1999’s "Scream For Me Brazil".
All of which are released here with extra bonus material. Since re-joining Maiden in the late 90s, the band has gone on to play to bigger audiences, combining new and old fans alike and this year the band return to headline the Reading festival.
Bruce has been broadcasting for 3 years and has just completed a series for The Discovery Channel. He is also a published author, a trained pilot and a gifted fencer.

hey GZ, you meant ths song "Tyranny Of Souls" 'cause it's my favorite song here, but otherwise nothing really great here, but not bad also.
i think bruce sings better when he plays with maiden, this production also don't fit to his voice (too much distortion).
i love the old, fun but serious iron maiden with awesome riffs and solos (as all of us).
though the songs on "Tyranny Of Souls" are great lyrically and pretty catchy.
overall the cd is fine+(after 2 listens).
but lyrically it's great. |

porcupine tree - Deadwing
Opeth - recording right now
Moonspell - not certain when
In Flames - recording now
Nevermore - recording now
Sentenced - The Funeral Album
Amaran - will enter studio in May
Sibliance - recording demo right now
Arch Enemy - recording now
And one other band who I can't think of right now, who will be entering the studio late summer.
And I'm sure some others as we go along. |

I'm most excited to hear the new Suidakra currently. I'm kindof blown out on Testament, Arch Enemy, and the like. Opeth would be cool. I've been crossing my fingers that they'll be heavy again, but won't bring back the death vocals. I'd like to hear the new Nevermore and Symphony X as well. And could Uli Roth release his Requiem for an Angel already? |
