I got this album recently- Private Eyes. It's some sweet. Sometimes the grooves go on for too long, but that's ok- this guy knows how to make a good melody or groove and he can tear it up on guitar too. Too bad he didn't stay with Deep Purple a little longer/not die and stuff. Then again, at least Whitesnake was awesome back then and Blackmore came back to Purple to make some good albums in the 80s.
I've got to check out his other album Teaser, because I heard that album was excellent as well. |

Did not expect Tommy to pop up here!
Great player! Do get "Teaser," it is by far the better album. Also look for Billy Cobbham "Spectrum," & Alphonse Mouzon "Mind Transplant," on these fusion albums Tommy shows us why he was one of the most respected guitarist in the industry, not to mention the other incredible musicians on these disc's. |

I've been looking for Teaser at an affordable price. When I get some more money it's at the top of my list. I've heard it's a little more hardrockin. Is that true or is that misleading?
I dig this style though. Actually, I was looking for something different so I checked out a bunch of guys you recommended here [Pat Travers among the others- though the samples of his stuff didn't really strike me- maybe sometime in the future]. Bolin was a good choice since he was in Purple.
I was looking at that Cobham disc the other day. |

Yes, "Teaser" does rock harder for the most part. It is also more fusion orriented on some songs.
I don't know if you sampled Pat Travers on Amazon, but if you did, his most essential albums do not have any samples, they were just rereleased a year ago after being out of print for almost twenty years! His masterpieces were all from the 70's & are very different from his latter 80's to the present material. Here they are in order of my favorites:
Putting it Straight
Making Magic
Heat in the Street
If you'd like you can PM me & I'll burn you those albums & "Teaser," just include your snail mail. |
