Well certainly this time of year. I check in daily but at the moment not a lot of time to post. That and I run an arts and music forum that I'm bringing back from a year off. |

True enough. Guess I can only keep checking back.
Have a great New Years Eve!

Sorry oddioguy, I don't post much.
But trust me, I'm here quite a bit.
Ya ever see a bunch of country bumpkins cross themselve's as they leave the room?

I used to engineer a country act (hey now....they were friends...), but they would come up up to me after the first set or two and ask, "Well, how does it sound out front?"
My stock answer was, "I don't know. I don't listen to country music."
After a couple of gigs, they stopped asking. |

Thanx RA.... It's funny 'cause it's true...
I probably have lots of anecdotes from playing and mixing gigs over the years, but my memory is strangely fuzzy. |

Actually, I do recall one....
I was asked to set the front-of-house mix for a churchs' Easter play. My immediate neighbour is the cat who wrote the thing, so it was hard to decline. I accepted and, after walking into the building without bursting into flames, I figured everything was cool.
I spent the afternoon setting levels, and showing the house crew how to set levels. That evening was the premier, so I returned to mix and offer general assistance.
Cool...it goes off cleanly. Pryo works, sound is good, the audience leaves feeling holier than thou, and then the house monkey runs up to me and asks, "What did you think of the play?"
Without even thinking about it I replied, "Not enough car chases".
Dude was absolutely crushed, but I didn't look back, and walked out.
I haven't been asked to do it again. |
