i'd have to say that Erotomania(by dream theater) has the greatest solo!!!!

Best? As in favorite, not necessarily the most awe-inspiring, musically speaking? My favorite is from Iron Maiden's "Powerslave." Very evocative, and it fits the lyrics and the whole mood of the song perfectly. |

I really love the solo from Helloween's "Where the Rain Grows."
STP's "Sin" also has a great one.

Almost anything Tony Iommi, even though he is best known for his rhythm playing. Those bluesy leads he plays on Heart Like a Wheel (from the Seventh Star album) are some of his best. |
