Metalfilm: Sorry about the delayed reaction here. I actually don't live in New York; I live in New Jersey, near New Brunswick -- close enough to NYC for me to get good reception.
I think that we have some very different opinions on what "modern rock" is. For example, I wouldn't consider Garbage a mainstream rock band, although they are modern. Garbage are often categorized in the alternative/indie genre. I dislike music of the type put out by bands like Matchbox 20 and all those other very popular rock bands. Bands like Garbage, Sonic Youth and Blur are among my favorite artists. Just food for thought...

Please people.. your brains are mush. Except for maybe The Police all those syntho bands with their puffy hair and techno beats? give me a keyboard and an echo machine and lets dance! Oh yeah, thro in the drum machine too. AAARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH I will take any band that actually plays something that sounds like rock n roll and is guitar driven over that junk.

Hey now, Duran Duran were quite accomplished, musically....all were excellent musicians, IMO, and I still dig John Taylor as a bassist.
