I can't believe there are no Beatles on here! In addition to them, I like Boston, Eagles, Styx, Kansas, and newer stuff like the Verve Pipe, Smashmouth, BuckCherry, Lit, Live, etc.

Great topic man! Good music is good music. I love all kinds of different stuff all, heavy in it's own way.
First off, an above post mentioned Gov't Mule, they rule. One of my faves. If you haven't seen 'em live, you're really gonna dig it man, they are awesome.(The Bass player's a homeboy too, for us Nashvillians)See ya Sunday!
Sorry,a little side tangent there for a second.
A little list here of some other stuff I think's cool.
Steve Earle- I love all of his stuff including the new one which is very Bluegrass
Grateful Dead- Saw 'em a bunch of times, always had a blast. Bootlegs are best.
Little Feat- Lowell George was great. All those old records are real cool.
Lynyrd Skynyrd-Say what you want, this band has put out some brilliant stuff.
Frank Zappa-A genius,'nuff said.
Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Bob Marley, C,S,N,& Sometimes Y, The Allman Bros., Lucinda Williams, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Tom Waits...(the Road goes on forever).
Also Stevie Ray Vaughn. Who,in my opinion definitely ain't no white boy poseur. He may have drawn from the past, but he ripped the past a new a$$, dig? Any blues purest that doesn't like SRV's output can go listen to some 60 year old, crappy sounding recordings of some poor black guy, and just blues himself to death.
Thanks for the opportunity to ramble.

Death: I absolutely agree with your Mellencamp statment, but add "American Fool" and "Uh Huh" to that list.

Add to that:
Beatles
Stones
The Cure
Prince (earlier pre-"Sign of the Times" stuff - go ahead, start laughing)
PRETENDERS!!
Foo Fighters
*Queen! Queen! Queen!*
Cheap Trick (No one else here's into them? C'mon!)
Tom Petty
Journey
...and Bob Seger, who recorded the ultimate summer album: Stranger in Town.

I'm a sucker for 60's Motown stuff, Aretha, Supremes, etc. and Old School Funk. I also listen to Annie Lennox and I'm a closet Dixie Chicks fan. Shhh don't tell anyone.
