Jackyl freakin' rocks!! I just wish they'ed come home and plays somewhere near Atlanta. They've played in Macon and Columbus, GA semi-recently, but I always find out about it too late to go.
Never considered Jackyl metal. Just good, clean (NOT!!) fun.

I don't think Jackyl are/were a metal band either. But like every other band back in the late 80s/early 90s, they either repackaged themselves as one or allowed themselves to be repackaged and marketed as a metal/hard rock band. Whose fault is that? I don't know. But by doing so, Jackyl, along with Ugly Kid Joe, Roughhouse, Vixen and countless other bands, flooded the market with contrived, sub-standard product in an effort to cash in on a trend. They killed it instead. Serves them right.
But my tirade aside, I haven't heard the band in years. If they get your mojo working, more power to 'em. It still doesn't change the fact that they helped kill Santa Clause. |

That reminds me, I like Ugly Kid Joe too!!
Acctually, I didn't like them too much back then. But a few years ago I bought America's Least Wanted (or whatever it is) and love it. |

I'm with Trooper. Jackyl and Ugly Kid Joe may not be the most technically proficient bands out there, but hasn't rock always been about a release of energy?!? My band plays "She loves my C@cK" from Jackyl and "Neighbor" from UKJ. Both simple tunes, both a$$ kickin' nut scrapin' rock if you ask me. |

Some of my favorite bands can't play very well. However, what sets them apart is their ability to write good songs. Something that Jackyl and Ugly Kid Joe, in my view, can't do.
But the bottom line is, if you listen to it and it gives you a chubby, that's all that matters. Not whether I think they're any good. |

Yup, nut scrapin' rock. That's right up there with getting "Def Leppard" drunk (ala Steve Clark of course.) |
