Not a bad idea, not bad at all.

C.C. DeVille, one of the biggest talent vacuums ever to go near a six-string.
Any guitarist who thinks that playing badly gives it "feel".
Michael Angelo, whose playing sounds like somebody setting a Casio keyboard to "electric guitar" and just running one finger up and down the keys.

Dishonorable mention: Yngwie Malmsteen & Eddie Van Halen, who I'm a fan of and have all their albums, but I just see so much wasted talent here.

Timo Tolkki - his entire career is based solely upon doing what Yngwie did in the early 80's.

Yngwie Malmsteen - his entire career is based solely upon doing what he did in the early 80's.

Kelly Gray - Could Queensryche have chosen a more inept replacement for Chris DeGarmo?

Eddie Van Halen - didn't this guy used to be able to play guitar?

Karl Logan- biggest dumbass I've ever seen, and is like a real life spinal tap band member.

Janick Gers - couldn't play a technically cohesive solo if his life depended on it

Danny Spitz - he did a good job doubling Scott's rhythm playing, but Anthrax's music screamed out for a great lead and he wasn't it

Vinnie Vincent - his lead work on his first solo album sounds like he recorded two cats f*cking and then sped it up a la the Chipmunks

Kirk Hammett - Load and thereafter

Good but overrated:
Ronnie Le Tekro (sp?)
Joe Stump
Malmsteen
Axl Rudi Pell
Vivian Campbell

I don't think there are many truely "bad" successful guitar players in metal, unless you talk about grunge, mallcore, etc. I do think that some guys don't lend much to their bands or are overrated, such as:

Randy Rhoads (Just kidding, LOL!)
seriously:
Steve Clark - I liked him and I like Def Leppard, but I have heard people call him a "legend" and I just don't get that.

Mick Mars - He's ok. Good songwriter, I guess, but not a great lead guy and I always hated his tone

Kerry King & Jeff Hanneman- I love Slayer, but they just wail away with reckless abandon when it comes to leads. I guess that's Slayer though.

Kirk Hammett - Mostly recent stuff. Has he forgotten every scale except pentatonic minor?

EDDIE VAN HALEN!!!!

If there is one guy I wish would just stop, it would be him. Wait a minute, does Eddie know how to tap? He never seems to do it. I am so sick of the EVH show on stage and record. Van Halen 3 was actually a decnt record and not him taking center stage. But those days are probably gone.

Jake, I am noticing a trend here in the bashing of the Metal Kings! I think I have figured out who you are going to nominate for "most disliked bassist!" Ouch!

MarillionFan-

I would agree, Yngwie doesn'ty lack feel. However, I am curious, do you think that he has grown much since his first four releases?
