I think most people are afraid to say what they really mean because they are afraid of some kind of retribution! I'm pretty sick of people who have this fake attitude about not offending anybody. (If I think women in music SUCK! I have the right to do it! Any I am sure that 99.9% of you agree! Bands like Kittie, The Donnas, Yellow Submarine, etc., etc. are just there for horney little buys to wank too! That's all! Just admit it!)

I actually perfer women in music to "SUCK" rather than rug munch. It's only then that I feel that I have a chance.

Also, please tell me where the politically correct "Lair" is so I know not to go there.

Well, if I'm a "liar" because I in this case happen to be "politically correct" and do like women in hard rock/metal (not all, though, as I said) such as Sass Jordan, Baby Jean (Mother's Finest), Skew Siskin, Darby Mills, Jennifer Batten etc... well, so be it. Just because you think women in rock SUCK, doesn't mean we HAVE to share your point of view, right?!
(I'd definitely have women suck than men though...)

Hello! Welcome to the HardBoard!

Point #1: Regarding fear of retribution: There are a number of reasons why somebody might not “say what they really mean,” however I doubt that being “afraid of some kind of retribution” is probably pretty low on the list of reasons in terms of posting on the Hardboard. About the worst “retribution” one could suffer would be a severe tongue lashing from other posters, and I suspect that most posters would get over this kind of “retribution” fairly quickly and painlessly.

Point #2: Regarding why you don’t see more confrontational posts here: More likely, posters on the Hardboard attempt to be more subtle in phrasing their dislike for “things” in a polite way out of respect for the other posters. Unless an individual was either attempting to upset another individual, it is usually fairly easy to communicate one’s ideas without offending others. My inference from your post is that you feel that people have to be abrasive in order to communicate their “true feelings,” but I don’t believe this to be the case.

Another alternative for why you are not seeing more strong, negative posts regarding the dislikes of others on the ‘Board is because it is possible to dislike something without hating it and it is possible to disagree with another’s opinion without being confrontational with that person.

A third alternative as to why you are not seeing more negativity here is could be because most of the posters here are fairly mature, either in age or in spirit. Usually, in my experience, immature individuals are more inclined to make inflammatory posts than mature individuals.

Point #3: Regarding your rights: As far as your “right to do it,” you are 100% correct in your assertion that you have a legal right to do this. I have a legal right to cut off my genitals with a rusty knife, but I choose not to do so (at this time, anyway—maybe I will change my mind down the road). Just because you have the right to do something doesn’t mean that it is prudent or “good” to do so. Just some food for thought.

Point #4: Regarding fake attitudes/offending: I guess I wouldn’t necessarily agree with your assertion that presenting one’s opinions without offending others makes a person (or their attitude) “fake.” Speaking only for myself, I express dissenting opinions to individuals all day long as a result of the kind of work I do, but I rarely “offend” anyone in doing so (even though they may find my position disappointing). I don’t lie about my feelings and opinions to anybody—to the contrary, I am known as very much the “straight shooter” by friends and acquaintances alike. I simply don’t present my disagreeing positions in such a way as to provoke others. You don’t have to be “disagreeable” to disagree and you don’t have to be provocative to make a point, in my experience.

Point #5: Regarding horniness: I am pretty sure that some horny big boys also wank off to bands like Kittie, The Donnas and Yellow Submarine.

For what it is worth, I would suggest that you try out Doro Pesch/Warlock. I am not saying that Doro is the best singer in the world or that their aren’t male singers that I believe have more talent, I am just saying that I enjoy listening to her.

Have a great day, mon frer!

Despite attempts at threats, in varying degrees of unintended silliness, nobody here is afraid of anybody else here.

If you really want to follow through with this, kindly visit any number of other metal boards (Metal Maniacs, Loud, Century Media) and see how much you enjoy them; they may be more to your taste. Nobody there is afraid to say how much they hate women in music, or blacks in music, or blacks in general, or jews, you name it, though I can't begin to express how much I like the absence of this kind of nonsense on the HardBoard...really, GRRRR, if you mistake civility for a "fake attitude", I feel sorry for you.

(shrug) Your loss.
