I think this was asked on another board, and I think it's an interesting question.

If you could go back and "erase" the existence of just one band - thus, erasing the influence they've had - which band would it be?

And, c'mon, saying "I wouldn't do it at all" is no fun at all.

I haven't really decided yet. I know which horror movie I'd erase (the first _Friday The 13th_, without question), but band? That's tough. It's easy to say Korn, but has the Kornification of so much American hard rock really much affected the music we, well, like?

I predict Nirvana will be the most "popular" pick in this thread.

Nirvana killed rock & roll. They stand for everything rock & roll is not. You know being serious and always trying to write "meaningful artistic songs (out of only 3 chords...any more then that nad you're wanking off remember)" which toitally goes against the decadent, fun-loving nature rock & Roll enjoyed from the 1950's straight up until 1991. Alternative rock has nothing to do with rock

Just one, huh?

You know, this is a tougher call than you'd think, but I pick Aerosmith. What started out as a second-rate Mick and Keith knockoff has deteriorated into a schmaltzy ballad band, and Steven Tyler is one of the most obnoxious, in-love-with-himself frontmen ( can't really call him a "singer" ) in the history of rock and roll.

Dishonorable mention: Kiss ( the Home Shopping Network of Rock ), Ted Nugent ( bad, bad music is reason enough )

Nirvana didn't kill rock, they replaced The First Wave Of Mall Metal, and that whole batch of foofy-haired Spandex power-balladeers deserved to go...in my opinion, of course. The puffsters erased REAL metal from the public opinion, and changed the perception of metal into a fruity-colored cartoon.

Leave it to you Tyranno to come up with an excellent (all beit tough!) question!!

Tho Nirvana is is easiest, most likely choice for me, I'm going to go back a little further. Not that I don't like this band but what had come after is what I wouldn't mind "erasing" because of the sheer greediness!...Bon Jovi. Man, did that open the flood gates for sappy, polished, make-sure-the-hair-looks-good music and image!

Nah skip Nirvania,,, punk has a place somewhere next to rockabilly. I pick Pearl Jam.. tho superior to nirvana, just lacking a jerk frontman. They influenced all this roots rock match box twenty bland sound. And Creed. Nothing against these bands personally I just dont get them.

Metallica/Slayer for thrash metal? Ouch! Are you sure that you are on the right board?

I would have said Nirvana, but that would be way too easy. I don't think Nirvana killed metal anyway, Metal was very much becoming a parody of itself by the time they got big.
I am going with Creed. I hate them. I am very sick of seeing them called a Metal band. I am also sick of seeing their stupid lead singer with his shirt off in every video and hearing his stupid voice. MAN DO THEY SUCK AND I WISH I NEVER HEARD OF THEM!!!
