If there are any other bands on that bill, I hope that In Flames plays first. That way, if ( when? ) the other bands suck, I can hit the door early.
Whether or not I go depends on ticket prices - NOT going to pay $40 to see a short set by In Flames and a pile of "nu"... |

I still love In Flames' stuff. In fact, as I've mentioned before, I like their new stuff better than their old. There's always people liking the old stuff better. Hell, for the last ten or more years people have been saying Maiden just ain't what it used to be. By what you're saying, that would make them just another trend band.
And Emperor didn't quit because they lost their fan base. In fact, it was with "IX" that they really started to get a large one, comparitively. But a BM band will never get as large of a fan base as something like a traditional metal band because BM just isn't as accessible. And it isn't supposed to be. But Emperor's last was their most accessible, and got them the most fans they had had to date. They quit because they felt it was time, and they wanted to concentrate on their side projects. And since Emperor was already abandoning black metal, I think it's best. If they want to venture into other forms of metal, do it under a different name. Which, of course, is basically what they're doing, because it seems all of the side projects involve at least two members of the band. But if there's any lack of loyalty to Emperor, it was because of the drastic change in sound they did. Which seems to have cost Priest a lot of their fans, too, so you know what they say about people in glass houses. |

Their show sucked as Anders was already starting to be an idiot. Plus they had 3-4 hardcore bands opening for them, what a bore. I had to kill time for about 4 hours before they got on stage. They then proceeded to suck.

I was just wondering if you were one of the people who hold it against In Flames for releasing material too quickly thus turning out less of a good product (in some people's eyes) and the live show suffering due to that. |

metalcrypt: I was just wondering, seeing as you're from Ottawa as well...when did In Flames play a gig there? |

Could Nevermore, Dimmu Borgir and Opeth be next?

Dimmu and Opeth are already on the receiving end of much your-glory-days-are-over scorn from people. They're wrong, but that's how it is. Nevermore, well, we'll see. It'll hurt to see them fall into the same category...but it'll hurt more if they ever actually deserve it. |

I saw them in Montreal. Most of the time I have to go either to Montreal or Toronto, we don't get many metal shows here.

No I just happened to dislike the live show. It's the only 2000 Montreal Metalfest show I didn't bother reviewing.
