A hail for the terminally underrated:
John Lawton (Uriah Heep/Lucifer's Friend)
Graham Bonnet (Rainbow/MSG/Anthem)
Pete French (Atomic Rooster/Leaf Hound)
Eric Adams (has a lot of raw power)
Jorn (to me - he IS the character actor of singers)
Phil Lynott (very expressive and unique)
and... Glenn Hughes (regardless of the music, this guy has the most amazing voice I've ever heard. Range, power, charisma and the ability to scream if needed.)
and too many others to list.... |

Sorry Maynard cant sing his way out of a paper sack and sometimes it sounds more like he is trying to sing with a male sex organ firmly placed between his tonsils. |

Wow, everyone seems to have this covered well, with my two faves, Halford and Dio. Don't forget Ralf Scheepers of Primal Fear, that guy has power and range for days. The singer from Brainstorm is awesome too, whatever his name is. There is a band called Shadowkeep with a singer who calls himself Rogue who is also awesome, everything Geoff Tate used to have. Then there is Michael Grant from Onward, and John Bush was killer with Armored Saint... |
