Rhyming "fire" with "burning higher"

Okay I'm sure there's lots more, but I've got stuff to do

Let me guess....you dug out your copy of Yngwie's "Trilogy" album for a listen, then followed it up with Ark's "Burn The Sun".

I thoroughly agree with you, that rhyme should be made illegal in all HR/HM songs.

Heh...actually, it was one of the songs on Knuckletracks 51, but yes, those were the songs that came to mind that reminded me how much this needs to stop.

I thought you were referring to Dio's "Born on the Sun", since its also contains "fire" and "burning higher".

Paul- If rhyming is made illegal, Malmsteen will have to throw away all his rhyming dictionaries...oh wait, it's a great idea, finally Malmsteen will just shut up and let someone else right the songs or only release instrumental albums.

I think Dio, and golly I just love him for it, is the most mind numbingly cliche lyricist in metal history. Anyone else would come off as an a$$ but Dio somehow makes it work. Take a couple of mystical terms, some events occuring in the night, thown in a sword or something, and bingo...instant Dio classic.

How about this one:

When a band releases a new album, they always seem to say in interviews that they weren't really happy with the previously released album they did.

I always hated to read that. It's like a slap in the face to those who thought that other album was fantastic.

That cliche needs to be put to rest.

And the rainbow, don't forget the rainbow.

Typical Dio song: "Holy Rock N Roll Rainbow Children of the Night".

He REALLY needs to stop using ALL of those terms in his songs....

Overkill uses that Higher/fire rhyme in Feel the Fire.

Tageryche, that's true and it's definitely annoying. I also tire of bands saying their new album is the best one yet. Just say you think it's a good album and worth purchasing and describe its good qualities. Saying every album is better than the last makes you sound stupid most of the time.
