Actually, whether they undertstand it or not, guitarists have the singer in mind when they write.

Listen to every Sabbath record. Woth Ozzy, they were grungy, hippy influenced, and drug addled. With Dio, Mythical. With Ian Gillian, crappy, 'cause he didn't fit the band. With Tony Martin, operatic and very melodic.

Malmsteen's music has steadily gone downhill since Jeff Scott Soto was his vocalist. Why? Because the singers went downhill too.

Listen to the big difference between Maiden with Paul Dianno, and with Dick-in-son.

Guitarists never admit this, but the singer has a huge influence on what works in a song, and what doesn't.

I picked this up, the 2 CD set and i can say i was not disappointed.

I actually heard plenty of IE before, but it wasnt enough to spark my interest to buy. HOwever, the addition of Owens for me was what made me pick it up.

Interesting the differences in taste, but the uniqueness here is good to hear.
