Recently there have been several posts on this board that have dealt with the subject of metal and its direction and the possibilities of its avenues of exploration. It has provided some interesting discussion and thought provoking threads. I work for a metal publication that is based here in LA, but distributed in Northern California (primarily San Francisco) and on the East Coast. We pride ourselves on devoting much attention to genres of metal that are overlooked and in most cases not even noticed. One of these branches of metal that is particularly noteworthy is Gay Metal. Now before anybody thinks that this is some kind of a joke or is disgusted, please do yourself a favor and read on.
Some of these bands in this genre are superb. They are some of the best bands that I have ever heard, producing possibly the best metal out there. I was the same at first. Beyond skeptical, borderline disgusted. However, I opened my mind. It has allowed me to enjoy an amazing, powerful music as well as enjoy experiences that I never thought that I ever would. One band that I would encourage and urge everyone to check out is Cock Army. Their latest CD, The Apocalypse of Penetration is brilliant. To describe it does it injustice because it is impossible to do so. Imagine the heavy production of Master of Puppets with the progressive edge of Nevermore and Symphony X. I hear many other influences in them, but I think it is best for everyone to experience it themselves and I hope that at least some do so. Please don’t turn your backs on this genre of Metal simply because of its subject manner. To do so would hinder your musical experience and possibly prevent you from experiencing the joys of a gay life style. |

anyone else have the feeling this is one of our old "friends" come back to "play with us"? I mean, "Cock Army"? "...Apocalypse of Penetration"?? Give me a break! Take this gay porn garbage somewhere else whatever you are... if you're gay, fine... I'm sure someone you know is very happy for you... but don't come here talking about a "cock army" I don't think any of us would be caught DEAD listening to a band with that name if they were better than EVERYONE.
sorry |

I'm so sorry to return, but Exlusively metal really has me inspired. You say you work for a metal publication open to gayness, so I feel obligated to get in serious, very serious contact with you, based on the amazing things I am reading about you. I realize we have not met, so I will not make a pass. I hope for an honest review of my act's material. Here is just one of the many earth shattering reviews I received which I found on yahoo search, not to mention one of our once fine countries' biggest metal publications, calling me 2 cigarettes short of a carton in another. We recorded, not in Hollywood as I am not sure where that is, but in my hometown of San Francisco where many gays live, though I may not really be gay, maybe I could be, not sure. Please please help by telling me if I am any good musically! My e mail is on bralalalala.com
BRALALALALA - Well Come To The Galaxy
With an incredibly stupid name like BRALALALALA and pictures of the sole member of this band in a corset, nylons, high heels and an unflattering black evening gown strune throughout the insert, my skin crawled in disgust at the thought of glam rock. Well, I'm actually quite surprised to report that in spite of his "I feel pretty" fashion statement, his music is a digestible form of Heavy Metal with an edge. The vocals are the weakest link to "Well Come To The Galaxy" with a shrill, clean screamed delivery. This style works on punchy, head bangers like "The Primal Bend", and "Into The Fast", but comes off sounding whiny and out of tone on slower cuts like" Music Skirt”. Musically, this CD is full of memorable hooks and uncommon guitar work. I can't see myself listening to "Well Come To The Galaxy" often, but it's nice to hear that there are some left out there in the metal genre not cloning the PANTERA sound and working shreds of uniqueness into their music... All this and he dresses sexier than my mom. What a ****ed up world we live in. - Marty

Well I am very encouraged at the onset by the content of your dialogue. I am more than willing to give my opinion of your band and also more than willing to give our relationship a try in the realm of gayness. In my failed attempts to advance on thrashcrashed my sorrow can only be extinguished by a rebound. Perhpaps you can help. Respond. |
