anyone who say DLR w/Vai knows that they blew Vh away. No doubt about it.
Let's also not forget the thousands of players Vai has influenced.
His style may not work as good as others ina traditional sense, but the guy can play.
didn't we already go over all this anyway? |

No doubt we've already been over this, but if Vai has influenced thousands, Eddie has influenced a million, including Vai. Figuratively speaking. |

Actually as a fan of Vai and most of the bands he's played with,I have to say that he never brought those bands down. Roth can't keep a guitar player to save his life. He went through Vai,Jason Becker (obviously that couldn't be helped due to health), and a list of lesser known players. Same deal with Coverdale...Vai,John Sykes,Adrian Vandenberg,Vivian Campbell,Doug Aldrich, among others if I remember correctly.
And then there is the talk of Vai just being a hired gun. Graham Bonnet was mentioned. He's recorded with a ton of different bands...Alcatraz,Impellitteri,MSG, among many others.
Not everyone will be a fan of Vai and that's cool. He appeals to a certain type of fan. I personally love intelligent instrumental music as well as 80's metal and other rock. Bottom line is he's a great guitarist who's written some great instrumental music. He definitely has the respect of a zillion musicians as well as non-musicians. I've seen this to be true at the many Vai shows I've been to. |
