I'm waiting on a huge-ass The End shipment. Hope it gets here before X-mas...it's got a stack of 2002 CD's in it and I don't want to be the guy who puts out his top 10 list in February! Again! |

Last two I got in the mail were:
Whitesnake-Slide It In (Original UK mix)
Opeth-Still Life
Now I think I'm done for the year, I still haven't gotten to listen to the majority of CDs I got in a good sized order from Metal Blade awhile back. |

Is the Iced Earth "Tribue To The Gods" any good? I have been debating on getting this one. |

Tribute to the Gods is cool for the first couple listens, but I found it grew old really quick. |

@ Badboy:
This is real mixed feelings review. I don't like Iced Earth, and I only have "Horror Show" because I'm a huge fan of horror films. I got "Tribute To The Gods" because it was a) cheap and b) covers some bands I really dig.
But the total outcome of the venture is not very good. For starters I don't like KISS and I don't care for the big hype they are for Jon Schaeffer. Then I love BOC but the songs Jon picked aren't the best possible ones, I like all the rest, but again 'Screaming For Vengeance' is also in the (Nuclear Blast) Judas Priest tribute, so is nothing new, and I would have picked some other song from the vast and wonderful JP catalog, for a "Tribute To The Gods" kind of CD compilation. I felt is more Jon's tribute to the songs I like, that tribute to the bands I like.
One positive thing to say is that the songs are played as faithful as possible and that the vocalist tries its best to fill the different vocal demands of the bands covered.
Again this is my $0.03 opinion |
