Just thinking about the sadness in this world and in some of our lives here, and of the sadness brought on by a evil person with a gun kiling at will how pathetic has the human species become?
so with that just wanted to know what music if any takes away the pain and confusion in life...

Actually for me, when I think about the way things are right now, the bad things. I just think about how bad it has been in the past, slavery, massive war, witch hunts, gladiators, the crusades, the nazis, Hitler, the inquisition, plagues, no medical care...

And then I feel a bit better that we ARE progressing, and we have progressed. Not to say we are at the stopping point for progression, but take notice that some of the things that caused the problems of the past are the same things that cause our problems in the present. For example we STILL have battles among Religions. And of course, money and power very much play a large part in our problems of today. History repeats itself. We never learn from it.

you know, this might seem sacriligious and may get me some boos this way.

But music that can help me deal with this shithole world: The Boss's latest stuff, Garth, Faith and Leann Rimes. Of course, Dream Theater also helps lately. Especially Spirit Carries on and Through her Eyes. (along with any metal of course)

this world sucks so bad and needs to be flamed to get rid of the mass amounts of shitheads in it.

Sometimes soft music that makes me grieves of sad memories, helps me clean my soul and regain strenght from pain. I especially recommend:

Joan Baez - 'Diamonds And Rust'
Spock's Beard - 'Goodbye To Yesterday'
Transatlantic - 'We All Need Some Light Now'
Ark - 'I Miss You'
Nightwish - 'Sleeping Sun'
Helloween - 'If I Knew'
Ayreon - 'Valley of The Queens'
Avalanch - 'Xena'
Dream Theater - 'Space-Dye Vest'
Nazareth - 'Where Are You Now'

it may sound silly but it does help me, is not depressing music just kind of sad.

If not you may try to laugh with something like:

Helloween - 'My Secret Alibi'
Frank Zappa - 'Why Does It Hurt When I Pee?'
AC/DC - 'Big Balls'
Lujuria - 'Estrella De Porno'
Steve Vai - '**** Yourself'
Steve Vai - 'When I Was Little Boy'
Saxon - 'Party 'Til You Puke'
Deep Purple - 'Mitzi Dupree'
Deep Purple - 'Knocking At Your Back Door'
Deep Purple - 'Ted The Mechanic'
Bruce Dickinson - 'I'm In A Band With An Italian Drummer'

And the best all-time cheer up song:

Black Sabbath - 'Wishing Well'

I mostly agree with Subtraction - take the most awful things about living in the world today and they seem like a sweet deal next to the evils of yesteryear. Not that there isn't quite a ways to go, but from this perspective, I don't think things are so bad.

I listen to anything I enjoy. I don't think there's one particular cd I listen to in order to forget about the world's troubles.Lighter stuff relaxes me,heavier stuff lets out my anger. However,in the end it all has the same effect.

When I`m feeling down I just think of this song...

Cheer up, Brian. You know what they say.

Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad.
Other things just make you swear and curse...
When you're chewing on life's gristle,
Don't grumble, give a whistle,
And this'll help things turn out for the best...
And...
...always look on the bright side of life!

(whistle)
Always look on the bright side of life...
If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing,
When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps,
Just purse your lips and whistle -- that's the thing!
And...
...always look on the bright side of life...

(whistle)
Come on!
Always look on the bright side of life...
(whistle)
For life is quite absurd,
And death's the final word,
You must always face the curtain with a bow!
Forget about your sin -- give the audience a grin,
Enjoy it, it's your last chance anyhow...
So... always look on the bright side of death!
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
Life's a piece of shit,
When you look at it.
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true,
You'll see it's all a show,
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you...
And always look on the bright side of life...
(whistle)
Always look on the bright side of life
(whistle)

Come on guys, cheer up,

Always look on the light side of life...
Always look on the right side of life...
Worse things happen happen at sea, you know,
Always look on the bright side of life...
I mean, what have you got to lose?
You know, you come from nothing,
You're going back to nothing,
What have you lost? Nothing!

Always look on the right side of life...

Hey...it works for me

I try to stick to positive bands like Priest, Accept, Scorpions, and Helloween when I'm down recently.

But in the past thrash has helped with anger situations. And I've also gone to Savatage's Streets or Edge of Thorns when I was depressed in the past.

Never understimate the power of mankind to do evil.
