|
|
Let me start by posing the question "What are the 10 Greatest Rock DVD's to date?" Please consider the following:
1. Performance
2. Audio and picture quality
3. Editing and camera work
4. Is the atmosphere captured? ( Does it give you goosebumps and are you part of that audience? )
5. Extra Features/Value for money.
This is not an easy task considering I run a video production business and I direct, do the camerawork and edit while my partner does the menus, audio and artwork layout. After much discussion and taking the 5 points into consideration this is our top 10 ( But they are not necessarily our Fav bands )
1. Whitesnake Live-In the Still of the Night
2. Anthrax- Music of Mass Destruction-Live in Chicago
3. Queensryche- Operation Livecrime ( Well done for it's time)
4. Red Hot Chilli Peppers-Live at Slane Castle
5. Aerosmith- You Gotta Move
6. Motley Crue- Carnival Of Sins
7. Scorpions-Acoustica-Live in Portugal
8. Collective Soul-Home with the Atlanta Youth Orchetsra
9. Metallica- S & M-Live in San Francisco with orchestra
10. Killswitch Engage- Set this World Ablaze
Other notable mentions are Incubus-Morning View Sessions, Kiss live in Melbourne with orchestra ( however the editing was too quick and did not allow you to focus on any particular thing ), Foo Fighters-Everywhere But Home, Thunder Live, Deep Purple California Jam in 74, Iron Maiden Rock in Rio, Greenday Live with a Bullet, AC/DC Stiff Upper Lip, Rage Against The Machine Live in Mexico- Have I missed any? I am sure i have. |

I've heard my fair share of live recordings and without question, the best for production value and tight band knowing their material would be the greatest rock/progressive band Rush. The disc was released before November last year, it's called .....R30. |
