I'm watching a thing on the History Channel about an unofficial truce between Germans and Brittish soldiers on Christmas during WWI. It reminds me of a movie I saw one which took place during WWII where a bunch of (I think) American soldiers found themselves camped close to a group of Germans. They made friends eventually, but then through an accident they ended up fighting and killing each other, all but a few. Then the German army was rolling through, so all Allied forces were ordered to clear out except the few soldiers left at that post were ordered to stay. So, they ended up running for their lives from the Nazis. I don't remember the end, but I remember it was a very very good movie. I saw it around 1992 but I can't remember if that's when it was made.
So...can anyone name this flick?? I have never met anyone else who has seen it. I think it was named after a Christmas carol like "It came upon a midnight clear" or something. Has anyone else seen it? |
