I have been trying, for years, might I add, to find out the title/author of a short story I remember reading in either elem/middle school. The story line, as I recall, had to do with a guy who was driving, and he swerved to miss this dark figure on a bridge....as the story progresses, he continues to see this figure throughout his journey. At hte end, he calls home and finds out that on that night that he swerved, he had wrecked and died on that bridge.....any help would be really appreciated... |

Wow they let you read that in middle school!!! I have no idea. Its kinda like when I posted the thread asking if anyone ever saw the movie in elementary school about the witch who made magic pancakes that would make people happy(sometimes between 77-82 it was made). Anyways the thread strayed and ended up talking about animal dander or something. |

I remember reading a short story in elementary school about a guy who thinks he escaped being hung, but it turns out he's just fantasizing about surviving while he's dying. So at the end he dies.
Never read the one you mentioned though. |

I thought he was talking about a short story called "Hitchhiker". The main character calls home and finds out his mom has a nervous breakdown because her son (the main character) died in an accident. |

Reminds me of those chrildren's books called "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark". They had stories similar to that one, but what the scariest part was were the damn illustrations.

This one looks manipulated in photoshop as far as the colors go. But I remember this one being one of the scariest ones hehe. I would always try my hardest to turn the page withouth looking haha. |
