Here's a new band for you Old Schoolers to check out. They're called Blood of the Sun

I just ordered this cd tonight, so I haven't heard the whole thing, but you can download an MP3 here:

Here's the write up on them:
The latest release from John Perez's (Solitude Aeturnus) BrainTicket Records label - Blood of the Sun features a who's who of Texas doom including former members of Sourvein, Las Cruces, Archie Bunker and Storm of Sunrise. A full onslaught of 70's hard rock heaviness, reminiscent of Deep Purple, prime Grand Funk, Led Zep, Mountain and Robin Trower!

I really dig the download, so I was more than willing to take a chance with this band. If you're not a fan of the old Hammond organ (ala Spiritual Beggars Ad Astra), you probably won't like it. I thought maybe a couple of people here might be interested in it though (i.e. Jim McCormick), so I thought I'd pass it along.

If anybody dares check it out, let's hear what you think.

I got the cd in the mail today, listened to it twice.....and it ROCKS!! If you like the sample mp3 I linked to above, you'll like the entire album. It's going to be one of my best of 2004 picks for sure. Of course, I may be a little partial... I'm a big fan of Las Cruces and Mark Zammeron is the singer for Blood of the Sun too. This is a solid rocking album, and recommended to those who like good groovin' guitar based rock n roll. (and the use of hammond organ is absolutely great!).
