best rock/ metla songs ever?
That's a tough one...
Manowar- Death Tone ('cause it has this motorcycle- on- the- highway feeling)
Alice Cooper- Poison ('cause Posion is poison)
Kiss- Detroit Rock City (no comment)
Accept- Balls to the Wall ('cause it was one of the first Hard Rock tunes I heard)
Blind Guardian- The bard's song (the Hobbit) ('cause it's so athmospheric) |

This is one of my favorites. Absolutely blistering guitar solos.

I'm really glad that we managed to get "Thunder and Lightning" before Phil left us. I love that whole album start to finish. An exclamation point on a great career. |

Thanks....to me,Nugent was never better than when he had Derek St.Holmes as his lead singer. Those first 3 lps he made after he broke up the Amboy Dukes were all great(even though I wish he never would have used Meatloaf on some songs instead of Derek).
I felt Thin Lizzy was one of the best bands to come out of the 70's.They certainly gave meaning to the term "twin guitars",and there never was a better vocalist/songwriter/bassist than Phil Lynott. It's a shame they called it quits after Thunder and Lightning but at least you can say they went out on top.A great album from start to finish.Scott Gorham and John Sykes played their asses off on every song. |

I agree this is kind of hard to nail down just five....especially when your top five changes all the time
Here's mine for today:
Metal:
Gamma Ray - Rebellion In Dream Land
Ozzy Osbourne - You Can't Kill Rock And Roll
Metallica - Leper Messiah
Judas Priest - Desert Plains (or maybe Never Satisfied)
Megadeth - Lucretia
Rock:
Mama's Pride - Blue Mist
Head East - Jefftown Creek
Blue Oyster Cult - Harvest Moon
Lou Reed - Sweet Jane
Tarney Spencer Band - No Time To Lose
.....And as I sit here looking over this list (after having edited six times), I'm still having a lot of trouble narrowing it down and sticking to my choices. Damn....tough thread... |
