NEW RENAISSANCE RECORDS founder, ANN BOLEYN, is on the warpath against bootleggers after a recent survey of the internet revealed over one hundred commercially-produced bootlegs of the label’s classic recordings being sold.
ANN BOLEYN, who is a licensed attorney, stated she will begin filing lawsuits against persons and businesses who sell bootlegs of the label’s products. “The community of metal record companies and distributors is small. People in the business know what products are genuine and what are not. You don’t have to be a rocket-scientist to know that a new CD that is being wholesaled for $5.00 is not genuine. Not only does the label lose money, but the bands don’t make any money on royalties. Ultimately it is the fan that loses out, because there is no way to tour.”
“In the past we have sent out plenty of notices to distributors ranging from eBay and GEMM to small distributors asking them to stop selling items we’ve identified as bootlegs,” explained Boleyn. Judging from the number of bootlegs we’re seeing on the internet, and even in the catalogues of distributors, the days of playing nice have ended.”
According to New Renaissance Records the following items are bootlegs:
WEHRMACHT --- Shark Attack (Made in Germany)
PHANTOM --- Dead Or Alive (Made in Greece on the Cult Metal label)
HELLION --- The Black Book (Made in Russia)
KING KOBRA --- King Kobra III (Made in Russian on MFN records)
CEREBUS --- Too Late To Pray
AMULANCE --- Feel The Pain (Made In Greece)
“This summer NEW RENAISSANCE RECORDS has a number of bands who are going to Europe and South America to do shows. When there are cheap bootleg CDs flooding the market, this harms the legitimate distributors, as well as the bands. The NEW RENAISSANCE RECORDS bootlegs are easy to spot because since 1990 no genuine product onthe label has been manufatcured outside the USA. Furthermore, we have issued no licenses since 1991.”
ANN BOLEYN is asking that anyone with any information on any record store or distributor selling any of the above-mentioned items should please contact her law office at (818) 881-2090, extension 113.
