april 14th 1978
7:30 am monday morning
back parking lot, kendrick high school

me and 3 of my friends, burnin weed,
hyped on the b.o.c. show that night
i say: fukk school !
we need to go down to the auditorium.
so after lunch we head out,
and as were coming into the downtown area
we got wcgq...107.3 blasting (war, the cisco kid)
and the dj comes on and say's:
blue oyster cult's semi
(containing the sound equipment)
had just went over the oglethorpe bridge
that crosses alabama to georgia
so we bang down to the river
and the semi had went cab first, killing the driver
and letting loose the contents of the trailer
the sound equipment that they use went down the river
most recovered some months later in peoples houses....lol
so.....

the concert is canceled
but on for friday night !!!

friday night 8:00 pm
columbus municipal auditorium
concert promoter "mike blackwell"
ceo of bash productions
comes on stage and puts silence to 7500 rokkers
for a minute in remembrance for the driver
then he introduces "angel"

"angel" were so good
considering they appeared on stage in lighted coffins
(spinal tap did the spoof of it)
punky meadows was top notch
and greg guiferri?
played the first syn tar i had ever seen
he did a solo on it......vibrated your teeth

although only 2 songs appear on the live album
"some enchanted evening"
they played a lil over 2 hours
and "eric" had the infamous,
(but banned right after this tour)
"the laser ring" (100% separate from the standard laser lights
that they ran the years before and after)
he shot it around the crowd and
he landed it on a mirror ball spinning from the ceiling
and it exploded and the place went dark
"cities on flame" brought the roof down !
when "godzilla" went into the drum solo
it lasted a good 10 minutes
with the strobe light and godzilla mask (it was killer)
they came out and did 2 encores (roadhouse blues and born to be wild)
before "buck" started a backstage solo and came walking on stage
said some words about the truck driver
and started "the reaper"
the place went decibel mad
and the rest of the band came walking out
as "buck" waltzed across the stage
playing the intro riff
they smoked it "note perfect concert"

i can close my eyes and see buck
with his hand on the headstock
bending the top string and kikkin it like a motorcycle changing gears
and of coarse the infamous guitar wars between eric and buck
that "manowar" strangely enough picked up and use at the end of their shows now !!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------

my apology,
the concert was to be on tuesday april 11, 1978
and the date they played and recorded was friday april 14, 1978
(minor detail correction)
