While we're all obviously die hard metal fans, it seems most of us like a wide variety of non-metal stuff. Here's the place to fess up.
Competing with Maiden, Iced Earth, Priest, Saint, et al in my deck are:
Martin Sexton -- folk played by a guy raised on Hendrix and Zeppelin.
Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise -- ultimate stoner rock.
John Mellencamp -- "Lonesome Jubilee" and "Scarecrow" are two of the greatest American rock records ever.
Much of the alt.country thing, but mostly Whiskeytown and Baseboard Heaters.
Alejandro Escovedo
I'm sure I'll add a bunch more tomorrow.

Some other non-metal listening pleasures are.......
I enjoy listening to classical music.
Charlie Daniels Band...... I never considered him country..... just some good old southern rock.
John "Cougar" Mellencamp..... Mostly his earlier stuff.

Sheryl Crow - hate her first album, but her last 2 are GREAT!
Sarah Mclachlan - the voice of an angel
The Stones - one of the greatest rock n roll bands ever.
Any southern rock - Allmans, Gov't Mule (seeing them Sunday night!), Skynyrd, Hatchet, etc.
The Blues - Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Lightnin' Hopkins, Gatemouth Brown, etc.

Besides Metal, my other musical love is Flamenco Jazz. It's mostly instrumental with the Flamenco Guitar being the main Intrument backed by (usually) 6 string bass and drums. The sound is very latin. If you are a fan of classical and/or Flamenco guitar you should give it a try. Some of the best in the genre are Strunz and Farah, Lara and Reyes, and Ottmar Liebert. Their Cd's can be found in the New Age section of most Cd stores. |

I'm mostly a rocker, with a few exceptions:
PJ Harvey & Jeff Healey, to name a couple. Now with the alternative thing, most of the time I don't really care for the band as a whole, maybe just a song or two. I actually like a couple of Oasis songs for example. I really can't explain what I like. I don't really go by labels too much, if I like it, I like it. Some things you just can't explain!
*Country I have a hard time swallowing though. Except for maybe the Monday Night Football song!

There seem to be alot of John Cougar Mellancamp fans here. Count me as one. I'm thinking of buying his greatest hits to listen to on my upcoming drive. Other than that, I love the bagpipes, Eagles, some classical, Jeff Healey, BB King, Cutting Crew, some traditional Native American stuff. I'm sure I'm forgetting some.... |

*heart attack* I forgot to put the Eagles on my list...that's PRIME classic rock. I also enjoy the music of Squeeze (classic-ish Brit rock,)some of Genesis's stuff and classical music.
