Yeah, I remember 1979 so well...breastfeeding, sh-tting my diapers, sucking my pacifier...what fond memories. You old f-ckers!! OK, other than the obvious (Maiden, Def Lep, et al.), I like White Spirit, Ethel the Frog, Samson. Oh, yes the '79 Revisited set is the greatest..until this fall, when Neat Records releases THREE 2-CD compilations of EVERY NWOBHM SINGLE EVER RELEASED. Go to the Neat website for details...

My fav NWBHM tunes? COol!! I was too young to remember it being the ripe old age of 2 in 1979 but i've found a few of those old bands thanx to an old Metal Mania compilation CD I found at HMV a few months ago. It wasnt' a NWBHM cd but it had a few of those bands on there. Anyway...my favs...

Iron Maiden. d'ianno was a much much better vocalist then ol' Bruce Bruce

Diamond Head. I havn't actually heard any original diamond head stuff...jsut he metallica covers but they're still cool 2 me

Blitzkrieg. Buried alive kicks major ass!!! As soon as I figure it out...my band is covering it

There's something so innocent, fresh and raw about all the NWOBHM bands; especially the early stuff, rather than the more commercial stuff put out by a lot of these bands later.

I like Maiden, of course, Tygers of Pan Tang, Samson, Diamond Head, Raven. I need to search the memory banks for more. It's hard to name some of the more obscure bands, since I usually only have a track or two from them.

"NWOBHM -- '79 Revisited" is probably the greatest compilation ever released. Ya'll should have one.

Tygers Of Pan Tang
Samson
Black Rose

Cloven Hoof
Avenger
Raven
Battleaxe
Diamond Head (Just Lightning To The Nations, the following albums are crap.)

Anamal, thanks for complimenting my list. Yours isn't bad either. *two thumbs up*

Metalfilm, I don't think I'm that much older than you (not yet, but soon to be 22).

Coda, WAY COOL!!! I never thought I would see anyone else agreeing with me on Di'Anno being a much better singer than Bruce.

Diamond Head and Saxon. "Where were you in '79 when the dam began to burst?"
Reading the Kerrang! section of Sounds and playing Iron Maiden and Def Leppard and Venom demos on the air!
We love the NWOBHM around here. We ought to do a special show covering all that talent. And thank god too, because the NWOBHM started the LA rush and then it was hard rock everywhere....
As always, look to the UK and Europe to start the trends off here...it goes back to Purple and Zep and Sabbath. Which is kinda funny because they were influenced by the US's Blue Cheer, MC5, Hendrix, and Grand Funk Railroad.
