Sepultura - great band and one of my first serious forays into the modern undeground. Arise is probably their peak from the early era - very heavy & powerful - Chaos AD a transformation begins some world music influence starts creeping in, again excellent CD and finally ROOTS - critics loved it, it broke barriers in metal and can be considered a classic. This is a band that came a LONG way from the original death metal tendencies of their youth. Max Cavalera's vocals may be the only thing that gets in your way towards enjoying this band but what the hell give it a go.

Arise and Chaos A.D. are both great albums, but I can't believe no one else on this board has said anything about Schizophrenia. This album is bursting at it's seams with some great speed metal riffs/songs, like "From the Past Comes the Storms" and "Escape to the Void". Throw in the killer instrumental "Inquisition Symphony" and the cheesy yet cool "Troops of Doom" and this is is one killer album, a must have for any speed/thrash metal fan.

I've only heard two songs by Sepultura; Choke and whatever was on that X Games soundtrack. But from what I have heard, they really don't interest me either.

Bullgod, "Choke" is completely not indicative of the band's music, since it was recorded with new singer Derrick Green.

I've figured out that most of the songs that are singles on various artists' album are never indicative of a bands music. Most of the time they are one of the mediocre songs on the artist's album. That's why I never said they sucked, because I haven't heard enough songs my them to give my solid opinion.

Agreed, Very'eavy....taste IS divided, even within my own boundries. I would never have bought Soulfly, either..but I saw them open for Rammstein and had a blast. Even so, I still wouldn't buy their stuff and enjoy listening to it.

I mean, I don't like Sepultura, but I saw them at the first Ozzfest really got into the show. I couldn't name a single song, but I had a kickazz time. I guess seeing a band live is different than listening to them at home. I couldn't get into it in my living room, but with the crowd, the noise, the lights...I can dig it.

Did any of that make sense? Am I still drunk?
