The RIAA is suing Napster on behalf of its member recording companies, and by association, artists. But Metallica, one of the world's most popular acts among music pirates and bootleggers, are standing up for themselves directly, filing a lawsuit in U.S District Court Central District of California against Napster, as well as the University of Southern California, Yale University and Indiana University.

. . . And once again, rather than embrace new technology and develop ways to make it work FOR them, the RIAA lashes out at that which it cannot understand. If it were up to them, we'd all be listening to 78 records or those old cylanders.

Remember when home taping was going to kill music?

And Metallica? What can be said that hasn't already been said? The only reason Metallica don't piss me off is that I'm a firm believer in kharma.

Oh, come on...as if Metallica needed any more money. Money-grubbing capitalistic pig dogs! Where's my little red book?

Yes, Justice for all.... the musicians if Metallica wins.(pun) As I stated in a previous post it should be the artist decision if they want their creative genius copied without approval, not the consumer. I'm glad its a star of Metallica's magnitude that got involved. I think its great that we can download quality music off the net. I don't think its so great that its our choice if its free or not from. I can understand someone making compilations of cds they already own but thats about it.

Ok, but as a musician, I feel that they should be happy enough that not only are millions of people enjoying thier music, but they're friggin' millionaires (billion, trillion, buzzzillion?). I just hope that people enjoy my music enough to want to listen to it more than once. Yeah, money is a nice bonus, but it shouldn't be so much of a motivation to sue these institutions and a freeware(?) programmer.

I guess what I'm trying to say is...people (mainly executives and lawyers) are too motivated by money....as for Metallica, I guess the old adage: "The more you get, the more you want" is just yet another living example.

Long live IRC mp3 communites!!!!!

By the way, if it weren't for those IRC mp3 communities, I would have never heard of some awesome bands (and in turn actually bought their cds) like Eniac Requiem, Angra, All too human, At Vance, Dreamscape, Edguy, Explorer's Club, Haggard, Johanssen, Stratovarius, Lacuna Coil, Lightmare, Nightwish (Totally awesome band!!!!), Magnitude 9, Magestic, MetalManiac, MorganaLeFay, Therion, Shadow Gallery, Sleeze Beez, Rammstein, Theatre of Tragedy, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Thunder, Tokyo Blade, Vanden Plas, Vitalij Kuprij (Awesome!!!)....just to name a few.

Also, because of sampling Metallica's Metallica & Symphony stuff (even though most people are putting them down for it for some weird strange reason) on IRC, I went out and bought their album because I thought it Kicks A$$!!!! It's about time a Metal band went on a full tour with symphonic enhancement like that! Thanks Ritchie Blackmore for starting it way back in the Deep Purple days (see the song: Anthem for a good example).

Well, I can't believe you read all of my babbling. What can I say....Metal Love is in my veins.

Peace. ;-)
