Hey freeride, did you ever pick up that aerosmith tribute cd? I did. I was really impressed with Speedball's "Rats in the Cellar". I think I may have to venture further into that band.
I don't want to go on about it if you have it, so I'll post more later. I will say that they pretty much covered all of the songs I actually like, so that was cool.
A little history for those who are not freeride. I HATE AEROSMITH!! So why did I buy an aerosmith tribute cd? I like the bands doin the covers. Now you are caught up. |

Hey Hippyblood, long time bro. No I never picked it up, I read some mixed reviews and wasn't sure about it. Say it's pretty cool? I did (about five minutes ago) order that Clearlight-The Mystical Krewe Of Clearlight. Have you checked it out yet? Supposed to be pretty killer. Crowbar, Down, EHG guys. I think it's instrumental but you can't go too wrong with those Heavy Ass dudes. I'll try to check that A-smith deal out.
Hey man is Puny Human any good? |

Hey man. What to say about "Right in the Nuts"....
If you really dig the old aerosmith, I think you'll probably like this cd. It's pretty much like hearing 27 bar bands do an aerosmith song. I don't think it will make your "best albums of all time" list, but I don't think you'll consider it a total waste of money either. Puny Human do an excellent job on "Rock in a Hard Place". Besides that song, I've only heard an instrumental by them, so I really can't help you too much there. If the aerosmith cover is any indication of what they do, then I'd have to say they rock.
Other stand-outs on the cd:
Movin Out - Fireball Ministry
S.O.S. - The Quill
Round & Round - Half Man (Excellent!!!)
Nobody's Fault - Solace (naturally)
and the aforementioned Speedball & Puny Human tracks.
I've only heard good things about Clearlight. I know I jammed them at www.nodzine.com a long time ago, but again, I'm not gonna be too much help. I've bought so many damn cd's this summer, I can barely comprehend what I have, much less the stuff I don't! Now we have the new Atomic Bitchwax (1 track w/Warren Haynes!), C.O.C., Goatsnake, and Godsmack (ok, I like em anyway) coming out in October alone.
Rock -n- Roll is alive and well.
Peace. |
