What do they sound like? Who do they sound like? Singer or cookie monster?
Knowing that i dig power / prog metal - would you recommend them?
Any info appreciated - thanks.. |

Tristania is more of a Goth metal band. They are a lot like "Theatre of Tragedy" or "sins of thy beloved." They actually have several different vox, they switch between clean and death vox and also have a female singing. They mix a lot of keyboards in with acoustic and electric guitar as well as synth noised. This is definitely not a prog/power band, but they do have a lot of melody. I do like Tristania, but I am not sure if you are into Goth or not. If you could stand cradle of filth's vox, then I would venture to guess that you could handle Tristania, if not for their melodies alone.

I picked up Beyond the Veil yesterday based on some positive reviews of the band. A short comparison would be a much more accessible Cradle of Filth, the music is simpler, the vocals are a mix of everything, death growl, cookie, clean, opera, male and female. The keys are nothing special, like I said simple is the word...I'm returning this one. I smell "POSEURS" with this band. They will be here and gone in no time, try Nightwish instead (same dilema but stronger players, if you can stomach opera style femme vocals they might be more to your liking).
Marillionfan, what do you think of Masquerade? I think this band is phenomenal, a perfect blend of Soundgarden, King's X and Queensryche.
