Anthrax - Phantom Lord

Good call on that Aerosmith album, Hippyblood. Probably the best tribute album I've ever heard.

cold sweat-helloween. yes, the original rocks but they really kicked it in the ass on the cover.

I don't think any covers are ever better than the originals, but in some cases(priest for example) where the cover is much different from the original, then the cover could be considered as good as the original. I hate most covers metallica has done, because most of the bands they covered were already heavy metal, and therefor metallica changed the songs only in the actual heaviness, but not in arrangements. I'd much rather hear "The Prince" and especially "Am I Evil?" by Diamond Head than by Metallica.

and honestly i cannot imagine a band doing a better Ace of Spades than the original.

Any person who deos Hendrix usually does it better. Just my thought.

Little WIng-Stevie Ray Vaughn, Def Leppard w/ Hothouse Flowers, Skid Row
Godzilla-Sebastian Bach
Voodoo Chile-Stevie Ray Vaughn
Once Bitten Twice Shy-Great White
C'Mon and Love Me-Skid Row
Cum On Feel The Noise-Quiet Riot
Helter Skelter-Motley Crue
All along The Watchtower-Jimi Hendrix
These Boots-Megadeth

And many tribute albums have versions I would rather hear. And I also fail tobelieve there is a better "Ace Of Spades" out there.

I really like Smoke on the Water by Riot, from their Live Japan disc. Im not saying it beats the original, but it sure as hell is a refreshing adaptation of such a classic.

... good call on the covers by SRV
