top 10 ways to bring back glam rock:

#1 record every episode of bevis and butthead for them to watch in their spare time, so they will not od on drugs

#2 hire one person for every band member to be a ego control specialist- to reaffirm each member they are the real "creative" force behind the music.

#3 ego control specialist can also tell band members their IQ is higher than the dumb blondes they date.

# 4Each band member shoul have 2 harley motor cycles and ego specialist should tell each one his is better than the others.

#5 instead of having 500 different guitars and going broke, they could rent guitars much like rappers rent jewlery.

#6 have them punch other bands in the face ( vince neil) at music awards much like rappers do.

#7 have them thank God and the Devil at music awards just to keep it real.

#8 keep good stock of pantyhose, makeup, and hairspray- much like female rappers

#9 hire Boy George to make outfits

#10 if all else fails get dreadlocks-dye your hair and name your new cd Generation Swine

I personnaly dont care if Glam comes back or not it never left my collection I'll listen to it when ever I want Not only that if it did "come back" it would probably be the next "trendy thing" and I would have to listen to "stupid people" say "have you heard that new band Accept,Aldo Nova,Black N Blue, April Wine, Babylon AD, Britney Fox , Dee Snyder, Dirty Looks, Don Felder," ETC... (I could go on a few more pages)
WHO CARES DUDE!!!!

Anyone else notice that Grunge is dead too? Funny how he defends another long dead trend in heavy music. Actually, here are a few lists of my own.

How to bring back Grunge

1.Convince Chris Cornell that every Soundgarden album after Badmotorfinger was not a piece of sh!t.

2.Tell Eddie Vedder to write Jeremy 2. The 40 or so live albums did not exactly fly off the shelves. They have already tunred up in the used bins.

3.Convince Jerry Cantrell his time is wasted making very good music and he should stop bathing and wear more flannel again.

4.Temple Of The Dog 2 - Our buddy is still dead.

5.Somehow go back in time and tell Kurt Cobain that his music is not really that bad and killing himself is not the way to pay his debt to society for making America a very dirty country for a few years in the 90s and making prozac all the rage.

How was that? Sorry if I offended anyone with any of that, tis all in good fun.

And now...

Top 5 ways to keep "nu-metal" the big poseur hit it is-

1.Convince NSYNC and Backstreet Boys that if they grew long goatees, shaved their heads, made odd convulsing movements as they pleyed instruments and yelled a bit more, they could reach a whole new audience.

2.Get Mariah Carey to dye her hair black, only to cut most of it off, return her breast implants and take up guitar. She can be the replacement for the guitarist who just left Kittie. Of course, she would also have to start liking girls.

3.Let the bodies hit the floor. Stop catching them as the fall. Just let them hit. Ok?

4.Get Tommy Lee to leave Motley Crue and grow dreadlocks and make videos with Fred Durst and Lil Kim so that the new trend has "Rocker Tommy lee" in their camp. He is a famous name and would be a good asset to this growing trend...What? You mean..this already happened? Oh you must be kidding??

5.As Fear Factory hit it big on MTV with Cars, and Alien Ant Farm is doing well with Smooth Criminal, make sure all bands record 80s pop hits and put some "edge" into it. This will make yesterday's generation give money to their kids to go to the mall to buy new cds. After all, System of A Down are big fans of Sam Goody!! SO I am sure you will be able to find any of their cds there. And be sure to request these along with Static X(who I have also seen on MTV) and all the other supposedly non mainstream bands. Let the kids think they are rebelling when in actuality, they could not be more mainstream if they tried.

And a special #6-
Lump banmds like Slayer into the numetal category so the genre will not seem so bad to others you pass your interests on to.

slavettgrind-

"4. Temple Of The Dog 2 - Our buddy is still dead"

First off, Temple of the Dog was not grunge. Sure, MTV may have lumped them into that category, for their own marketing purposes, but that doesn't make it so.

Second, that CD friggin rocks. Itís easily one of my ten favorite CDs of all time. Chris wails on that disk. Just give a listen to "Times of Trouble". If you can look at those lyrics, and listen to the heartfelt way in which Cornel sings that song, and still put him in the same category with a no-talent like Cobain, I want some of whatever your smoking.

Finally, I have always thought it odd, that Soundgarden got lumped in with the rest of the grunge bands. They were around for years before the term "grunge" was ever coined. And for all that time, many considered them metal. At least they always got air play on the metal radio station that I listened to. Then, Nirvana hits, and because Soundgarden and Nirvana both came from Seattle, Soundgarden got tagged "grunge". Odd.

I think grunge originally referred to the image such as glam. Grunge was flannel and jeans, glam leather and lipstick. Soundgarden, Chains, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, none of them sound that much alike. But they do fit the phrase alternative. And just when you thought it was dead, Creed comes around. Actually I have a tolerance for it now unlike 10yrs ago.

slave,

Very nice! It's funny because it's true!

Zod,

Soundgarden gets lumped in mostly because of Seattle and Kim Thayil's look. I don't know if they fit musically with the grunge thing, but I was never a big fan, so it didn't bug me that they got thrown on that pile.

robotart,

as usual, your attempt at humor was weak - should I have expected anything else?

Don't you just love on how on all of those "history of rock" shows on VH1, they always make a big deal of how grunge killed off glam, but you never hear a peep, on how grunge fizzled out? It makes me think something fishy is going on at Viacom, and that MTV truly did have a plan to kill off metal
