So Jann Arden has been doing the promo rounds for her new greatest-hits album. I've been a fan of Jann for a while - she sings very, VERY sad ballads, heartache all over the place. And yet, I've also known that in person (or at least, in front of a camera), she's very cheerful, friendly, and funny. In her recent spots on talk shows, VERY funny. Seriously - nobody's made me laugh this hard since that last George Carlin special I saw.
Anyway, when I first found out how different she is from the impression you might get from her music, I was a little surprised. Now it just seems like a fascinating new facet to her art.
Who in the hr/hm world is like this? For example, who makes frighteningly evil music, but in person is the kind of guy you'd let your sister marry? Or the other way around...? I know, this is perilously close to gossiping like teenaged girls, but these things can add an interesting dimension to the songs. |

Sadness is easier to hide on the outside. You can be funny and cheerful but on the outside when you are by yourself you can be very sad, depressed. LOL, sorry for the psychology. But thats how I am sometimes. As for the musicians...I dunno, hard to say since i dont really read interviews that much. |

I am the sameway. If I could ever get a band together my music would probably create the same confusion. Instead of music I have other creative outlets which display any sadness I might have. Around people I don't want to act like a whiner even if I may be.
I'm thinking any stories ever about Slayer should dispel all notions of them being the bad people that they talk about in songs. |
