Diabolic--Vengeance Ascending
Nile--Black Seeds of Vengeance
Cephalic Carnage--Exploiting Dysfunction
Vader--Litany
The Chasm--Procession to the InfraWorld; or the new EP, "Reaching the Veil of Death"
Anata--Dreams of Death and Dismay
Sadistik Exekution--K.A.O.S.
Lykathea Aflame--Elvenfris

These are all relatively recent death metal releases I would recommend getting instead of wasting money on CC. And there's plenty more recommendations where those come from.

It really doesn't matter which one you go with. They're the AC/DC of death metal

Raider - yeah, but if I took your Dimmu Borgir recommendations, I'd have never gotten into them :P

CC (what I've heard, anyway) has something specific I'm looking for which I know several (and I'm guessing all) of the listed bands aren't offering - that pulpily pleasureable crappy-slasher-movie-circa-1980 vibe. Exhumed and Mortician failed to deliver...what I've heard from CC suggests they're the guys most likely to have put out the one really killer album I want in that corner of the genre.

Didn't like the Nile or the Cephalic Carnage, but Vader's cool, though. What's the deal with _Reign Forever World_? I can't get straight whether that's a live album or a compilation or a flotsam album or what.

I recommend "Ace Ventura - Pet Detective". Isn't Cannibal Corpse in that?

Tyranno, check out Tomb of the Mutilated. It has their best song "Hammer Smashed Face". Butchered at Birth isn't too bad either. Yeah, I kinda like their style just because I love 80's horror films. Each song is like a mini movie(with no video)

Vader rocks!

As far as CC goes, I can't really say that I have an outright favorite album because they all have tracks I really like and tracks I don't care for.

That said, I would recommend The Bleeding first, then Gallery of Suicide.

Have you ever given Suffocation a shot? Try some of the tracks from Pierced From Within. This is, IMO, one of thge best death metal albums ever.

Hey I don't know but I'm pretty sure I have one to trade. I THINK it's an EP but not sure. I got it real cheap new, it's in good shape, let me know.

I have only one of their releases... "Eaten Back To Life." To me, it lacks quite a bit, mucically. However, there are a few cool grrrinding riffs. Lyrically, I agree with Mayhem62. (horror stories) They are basically gore-iffic. That is what truly stood out with me about Cannibal. "Both of them collide, expressions horrified/ Head on at full speed, the vultures will soon feed."..... "Fourth child on the way, won't live another day/ Fetus on the road, with mangled little bones." Those words are from the song "Shredded Humans." It describes a family not quite making a successful trip home on the road. Anyway, I find the album 'ok.' But, as far as this sound goes, I prefer Deicide. Although, I only have their first 3, I find them much more satisfying amongst this genre.
