Well, if you insist, hang on...
Speed Strid (Soilwork) - angry teenager wearing a hoodie. Not very fantastical, but that's the vibe I'm getting and it's strong enough for me to dig it.
Ihsahn (Emperor) - power-mad gigatyrant so insane with lust for conquest he'll destroy entire worlds to prove a point, or maybe just because he doesn't like the way it smells.
Dan Swano - his voice doesn't really have a personality in such a way, but his grind vocals are so well-enunciated that I'd rather listen to his than just about anybody other's. So guttural, yet so clear...
Jeff Walker (Carcass) - a big talking serpent - if Disney ever makes a movie with a big talking serpent in it, Jeff's their guy.
Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity) - a withered old man who's seen more pain and suffering in his lifetime than most of us can imagine. He's probably spent his last seventy years in a dungeon.
Hart Bachmier (Disciples Of Power) - everything form this guy sounds like the very last gasp of breath from the lungs. Not sure what kind of image that would create - it doesn't really create any - but still, when I hear him, I hear a guy on his last breath.
Jon Notveidt (sp?) (Dissection) - a lot of bands go for that "old man winter" vibe, but I think this guy captured it the best.
(I don't remember the guy's name) (Vader) - an angry but highly intelligent and philosophical bouncer.
That's about all that's coming to me right now. I dig a lot of other bands with grind vocals, but for the most part, it's in spite of those vocals. |
