80sGuy - Very mature reply.
I guess your little deal IS proof that the talented musicians don't get signed!
I can just picture that magical night - a little dump off the Strip, featuring $2.99 steak dinners...three Warner execs stumble in, drunk off their asses...a Garth Brooks song plays...one drunk exec turns to another and says,"DAMN! Do you hear the keyboards on this song???? We have GOT to sign the guy with the buzzcut!!!"
Fast forward to the next day...same three execs wake up in their hotel...one hungover exec says to another,"Where the F@#K did this contract come from? Did you sign this guy? Who the HELL is Buzzcut Sam????" "OW! My head hurts! How are we going to explain this to the boss???" "Well, at least we had the sense to lowball this guy - look at the numbers!" "BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!"
Meanwhile, back at the ranch...
"MAMA, lookit this!!! We done got us a record deal!!!"
"But don't you like to play metal music, Sam?"
"AHHHH, who cares? I have no integrity, remember? Why do you think I'm in 'Bubba Chaps and His Southern Bandaleros' anyway??? It's all about the money, and now I'm almost in the FIVE FIGURES, baby!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-HAWWW!!!"
...congratulations.... |

What I SAID is show proof of your skill as a writer and musician. What I STILL want and have always tried to get out of you is samples of your work. If your afraid someone will steal them and thats why you won't put them up, then you need to learn more about copyright. If you already know then I say again. Give us proof of you vast talent. I don't care about your pretty paper.
1) I will NEVER show you lameasses ANYTHING i write.
2) You want PROOF of my talent? Come to where i work and i'll show you how much i kick ass at what i do. |

How much you kick ass at playing a way-in-the-back supporting instrument in a genre you hate for people you resent? |

<cutting through the swinging baseball bats>
...Just listened to this song. It is not an "80's sound" if you ask me. I liked the song, it's "idea"... there is something there to work with. I would love to hear this song in it's gleaming studio form, with an experienced (and paid) mixer working the sliders. For a mellow sound, it's not bad. The solo sounded like the guy was either really nervous, or really drunk, or both... but it has moments where it is cool. But you can blame most of these flaws on the bad mixing and the fact that it's live. As I said, I believe this song would be much better in it's studio version.

wow, very interesting conversation so far. Thanks to everyone for criticism, good or bad...feel free to give any feedback. I'm new to this board so I don't really know alot about who's who and what kind of music you guys really like, but I'm getting a pretty good idea. By the way, the guitarist wasn't nervous by any means, but he was pretty intoxicated. |

not to bad a track actually, a decent blues based song. While listening I could picture Eddie Vedder singing it. It would be nice to hear it as a studio track.
PM&AOR - what's your problem? why are are so negative about everything? Where you neglected as a child or probably just a spoiled brat still. Put or shut up. Show us what you can do. |
