Noted a few things.

-in his day, Geoff Tate was probably the best hr/hm singer alive. These days, I'd say it might be Jorn Lande - hard to say if he can keep up with Matt Barlow's vicious intensity, but I'll bet he probably can with the right songs. Anyway, not only was Geoff great here, but he was sort of the Warrel Dane of his day - the only clean-vocals singer who really convey terror.

(speaking of Warrel - I'd never before noticed the death vocals on "The Politics Of Ecstasy" until now)

-the revolutionary/terrorist angle has only gotten more frightening and potent since Sept. 11.

-"Suite Sister Mary" and "I Don't Believe In Love" both seem a little cheesier now than they used to, but they're still a couple of awesome songs.

-I don't think I'll ever think of any Queensryche as "prog metal", even if it was progressive for its time. I think I discovered this album in 1989, when all of metal was still fairly new to me, and it never seemed "progressive" (in the sense which, as I understood it at the time, refered to stuff like early Rush), just great, fairly complex metal.

-I don't think I've ever seen another album with a warning sticker that warned of "controversial ideas".

-yup. Fourth greatest album of all time.

Okay, that's all the thoughts I had. After it was done, I fell asleep, woke up, thought about mowing the lawn, put it off til today, and holy crap, my mower is weak. I'd be better off cutting the grass with a hammer.
