...but I'm hearing a sucking sound, it's coming from the general direction of my balls, and I'm pretty sure it's being made by the new Andromeda.
I've had a few disappointments this year, but this is the first really big one. What I had feared has come to pass - by making Nonexist his heavy project, Johan Reinholdz has seen fit to remove all semblance of heaviness from Andromeda, leaving it a light, fluffy prog-rock experience, kinda like Dream Theater without their nominal aggressive side, or keyboards-era Rush without the catchy songs. The loss of heaviness doesn't automatically make it bad - but it is a serious handicap for a project which, previously, had its heaviness (otherwise fairly rare for this kind of prog metal) as one of its major assets.
Mind you, this is based on only two listens so far. I hope it grows on me, but I don't think it will. |

I've had the cd since Janauray and have only played it about 6 times. Its ok and has some nice moments but is otherwise flat. |

Have to agree... so far. I haven't even made it through the entire disc yet. That may be more because I have a bunch of other CDs that are keeping my attention. But it's not a good sign.

I have to disagree with you guys and say that this is very good stuff. I hear the agression, especially in the singer who can change it up.
I'm hearing Glyn Morgan, Tom Englund and others in his voice. The music is spot on with a good amount of melody and crunchiness. The debut was more sterile and trite, while this one breathes.
Thumbs up. |

Well it depends whom is performing the sucking function, as that is sometimes a very appealing thing, whereas Andromeda the band and there involvement to the activity that loses my interest.
First one (Extension of the Wish) was OK-to Real Good at times, althought I am not real excited to hear this one I guess, even before the clamour on the change and direction, beit good or bad. But with Lionheart, whering it on the sleeve, sticking out a worthy, sturdy stance in a field of dirty balled dissention, I am rather intrigued, I'll check some mp3s for sure... |
