I was told by a friend to check out Cradle of Filth. I listened to them a bit using the headphones in the CD store, and I wasn't too happy with what I heard. Of course, it's hard to get much from a little sample like that. Is anyone into them, and are they worth giving a real shot?
I ended up getting The Haunted: One Kill Wonder instead. I like it a lot, although it's a little rough around the edges in some ways. Maybe it's just this disc, but even though this band has a definate melodic side, they seem to dwell a little more in the darker, more classic death metal sound. Maybe I'm just spoiled by In Flames and Soilwork type bands lately. That's cool though, I do like the CD. I liked At the Gates too and they sorta had the same type of sound (naturally). |

If the vocals didn’t totally kill it for you, then I would recommend giving Cradle of Filth a try. I’d start with either “Dusk…And Her Embrace” or “Cruelty and the Beast.” I think everyone will agree that musically this band is brilliant, but if you can’t take the vocals (which are VERY extreme) then it probably has no shot with you. |

The new Haunted is pretty killer. It's a little short though. |

Never cared for either of these bands. The production on everything by CoF, except for their latest, is just horrid. try before you buy.

If you like The Haunted then you might like bands like Hatesphere, Soulless, The Duskfall, Sacrificial, etc. |

Are Haunted and the Crown considered gothenburg or are they more traditional death metal? |

Thrash revival! That's how I think of 'em anyway. |

There are tons of "new" thrash bands out now. Some are mentioned above. It's not really a revival since the genre has been emerging a few years now. |
