I got the new Anthrax cd today. Not bad at all. It isn't earth-shattering,but I found it pleasureable for the most part. |

Still listenin to that new Anthrax. It's not bad at all. A lot of the riffs are kind of rudimentary, and there are some thrashy(self-parodic?) parts that I didn;t care for,but the choruses often "save" the songs if you will. I liked "What Doesn't Die"(cool chorus, stupid SOAD-like riff though),"Superhero"(cool riff),"Refuse To Be Denied"(swingin' song),and "Anyplace But Here"(opening riff kinda falls flat, but the verse riff is excellent as is the chorus). Not all the songs are winners("Safe Home" kinda sucks),but most of them have flashes of brilliance in them. John Bush puts on a great performance as well, his vocals also making this a pleasureable spin. Basically,I found it to be a good, solid, generic metal album. If I had to rate it numerically,I'd give it an 8/10. |

Voivod-s/t
The only album I have been playing for a while now, this is a kick-in-the-ass-with-a-giant-army boot album. I can't think of any other way to describe it.
