There were no in studio guests this week, other than the metal news guy Ian Robinson.
This week's reviews are a mixture of a few new to me songs, and a lot of repeats.
Marilyn Manson - This is the New 'hit" (While I don't think he's the anti-christ or anything, I've never been
able to get any enjoyment out of the material that's been put out.)

Shadows Fall - Destroyer of Senses (I know I'm putting what little metal cred I have on the line, but this
just doesn't do it for me.

Lamb of God - 11th Hour (Still like the musical track, it's still ruined by the vocals.)

Nothingface - Ether (Still love the concept of the video, but don't like the song.)

Testament - Over the Wall (Early Testament. It was interesting to hear, but I'm really not much of a fan of
the band.)

Mudvayne - World So Cold (As much as I liked the first release, Not Falling, from this band is as much as
I don't like this song.)
http://www.mudvayne.com
The Revolution Smile - Bonethrower (I can't remember if I've seen the video or not before, but I've heard
the song a lot on K N A C.com, and it's really grown on me lately. Glad to have seen this one.

Hatebreed - I Will Be Heard (Okay, here's what I think is my basic problem with the metal of today. I liked
the lyrics of this song. However, the basic screaming of them really hurt my enjoyment of them. I guess
if you haven't figured it out already, I like metal SINGERS, not Screamers. Screaming is fine as long as
you can work it in as part of the singing, not the entire basis of your performance.)

Slayer - Raining Blood (Live) - (Still don't like this song, Seasons in the Abyss, War Ensemble, Dead Skin
Mask would be far better songs to have heard.)
http://www.slayer.net
Transport League - Disconnect Massconnect (Okay someone explain this band to me. Freaky sci-fi
video. Didn't really get into the song.)
http://www.transportleague.com[/ur l]
Eighteen Visions - You Broke Like Glass (Again, even simulated lesbian action in the video can't make
this song any better.)
http://www.eighteenvisions.com[/ur l]
Corporation 187 - Perfection in Pain (I've never heard of the band before, but I didn't care for the song
anyway.)
http://www.corporation187.com
Obituary - The End Complete (Screaming Death Metal vocals, I didn't like it as I'm sure you must have
guessed already.)
http://www.angelfire.com/p a/obituary1/
In Flames - Trigger (Best song they played all night, I really like the switch between the guttural style of
vocals to the more melodic stylings that goes on here.)
http://www.inflames.com
Decapitated - Spheres of Madness (Death Metal that I don't like. I had to mute it. I think it's terrible.)
Neurosis - The Tide (Sorry but I didn't like it, very arty pretentious opening and it seemed to be a very
short song, blink and it was over.)
http://www.neurosis.com
Drowning Pool - Bodies (Jamey Jasta introduced this video as a memorial to Dave Williams who died a
year ago. They showed a clip from the Drowning Pool DVD before the actual video. I like the opening
part of the song with the hushed whisper of "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor," but it loses some of the
appeal when it hits the harder portion of the song.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the Ball and Jamey Jasta will be on location with Ozzfest next week. |

Yuck! Testament and Slayer are the only songs I like there, and I've already seen the Slayer video. I guess I wouldn't have minded checking out Obituary since I've never heard them before. |
