ACE FREHLEY - New York Back In The Groove
By Martin Popoff

Ace Frehley, guitarist for a little known pop combo called Kiss, is going to be part of a much-publicized Word Trade Center disaster benefit, which, in a press release, has been billed as such:

"Eddie Trunk/WNEW'S Friday and Saturday Night Rocks in association with Metropolitan Entertainment present: NY STEEL: A hard rock benefit show for the NYPD/FDNY November 28th 7PM at Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC Featuring live performances by: for the first time in 14 years, the original lineup of TWISTED SISTER (JJ French, Dee Snider, Mark "The Animal" Mendoza, Eddie Ojeda & AJ Pero), ACE FREHLEY BAND (the legendary lead guitarist of KISS with his solo band and special surprises!), ANTHRAX, OVERKILL, Sebastian Bach, plus many special guests! Hosted by EDDIE TRUNK and NY Mets superstar MIKE PIAZZA. A true hard rock benefit for NYC!"

So the affable Ace Frehley will be there doing his raggedly rock 'n' roll part. "Yeah, there's Anthrax, Overkill, then myself with Richie Scarlett, Steve "Budgie" Warner, and Karl Cochran, will be performing, my old road band, prior to the Kiss reunion in '95," begins Space Ace. "We're just going to go up there and do a 30, 35 minutes set, kick your butt. This will be the first time the original members are going to perform, and there might be a celebrity jam. We haven't really decided on a set list. We're just going to give you the best of the best of the best of the Ace Frehley Band, obviously not excluding 'New York Groove'. That was the only song out of the four solo albums that got into the Top 20 and I think it's appropriate."
