"I mean that whole power metal thing, whatever, dude," sighs Jon. "We're metal, and I would say that we are the alternative now and have been for a long time, because the alternative is mainstream. That whole class thing... people are going to say whatever they're going to say and we're going to do what we do and still continue to not give a shit what the rest of the world does. They call us power metal. We've been called that a lot. We've been called speed metal, melodic metal, we've even been called thrash metal which is ridiculous. Whatever people try to label us that's what they'll do. We have so many different elements in our music that it's kind of just broad-stroking it and it's not fair, because there are too many colours to our music."

With an er, monster European tour planned, featuring roughly 25 dates, three hours of music with no support act, and three full set designs marking chronologically three eras of the band, as well as new label negotiations, it looks like Iced Earth's impressive yet dormant status will be seeing a thaw.
