Metal Mental Meltdown: Not So Trivial A Pursuit Page 2

And what might be next in terms of other products from the company? "There's a couple of ideas. We're thinking of a business-oriented book for heavy metal, a history of the business of heavy metal with interviews with a lot of people like yourself, or Slagel, key people in the industry. Actually an idea that has been floating around. People would like to see someone like you and Brian Slagel in a live playoff championship of the universe or something. I'm not ashamed to admit that I culled a lot of material from your books and our conversations and stuff, so you'll probably go, 'I know that one!!' We're also thinking of a glossy coffee table book, The Art Of Heavy Metal, with five hundred album cover shot or something like that. Also a CD-ROM which would be an interactive version of the game, so people can play by themselves. Maybe an encyclopedia, which would be basically compiling my database into a heavy metal encyclopedia. I know there are several out there, but a lot of them are not totally comprehensive. And we think as a group we can provide one that would be really really good."

Plus, one would think, the game could be endless in scope, with new questions devised? "Right, well, we've developed about 20 different extension pack concepts. They will be genre specific. The kids who listen to Darkthrone don't care about the Bon Jovi questions and vice versa. So we'll have a pack specific to doom metal bands, or black metal bands, or guitar heroes. And once we get a feel for what people will be interested in, then we'll whip off 666 questions as an extension pact and put it in a little box and ship it out. And those will be quite economical because it's just cards."
